DI ROSA, GENNARO, venerable — Priest, born in Naples on 28 June 1823, died there on 28 February 1905. Ordained a priest on 29 March 1847, he exercised his sacred ministry in hospices and prisons, hearing confessions and preaching tirelessly. He was parish priest of S. Maria degli Angeli alle Croci, where he devoted himself heroically during the cholera epidemic of 1884. In 1885 he was appointed a canon of the metropolitan cathedral, where he later became penitentiary canon. His virtues have been approved as heroic for his beatification.
