DI ROSA, Gennaro, Venerable – Priest, b. in Naples on 28 June 1823, d. there on 28 February 1905. Ordained priest on 29 March 1847, he exercised the sacred ministry in hospices and prisons, tirelessly hearing confessions and preaching. He served as parish priest of S. Maria degli Angeli alle Croci, where, during the cholera epidemic of 1884, he labored heroically. In 1885 he was appointed canon of the metropolitan chapter and later penitentiary. His heroic virtues have been approved for beatification.
