Domingo y Sol, Manuel

DOMINGO y SOL, MANUEL. - Priest, b. at Tortosa (Spain), April 1, 1839, d. there Jan. 25, 1909. Ordained a priest on June 2, 1860, and having obtained his academic degrees at Valencia, he devoted himself to an intense apostolate. Animated by ardent zeal for the young clergy, he attended to their formation, establishing for this purpose in 1885 the Congregation of Diocesan Workers. In 1892 he founded in Rome the Spanish college for Spanish clerics who come to complete their ecclesiastical studies there. He spread among his students the reparative devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The cause for his beatification has been introduced before the Sacred Congregation of Rites.
