DI ROSA, Maria Crocifissa, Blessed. – Born Paolina d. R. to a noble family in Brescia on 6 November 1813, she died there on 15 December 1855. At the age of seventeen, she was entrusted with the management of her father’s spinning mill, which she restored to new prosperity while at the same time showing solicitude for the spiritual and material well-being of the workers. During the cholera epidemic of 1836, she displayed heroic devotion to the sick. A true apostle of charity, she poured out her inner love in service to the sick and to the wretched poor.
She was beatified by Pius XII on 26 May 1940.
