DI ROSA, MARIA CROCIFISSA, blessed. – In the world, Paolina d. R., Servants of Charity (v.), born in Brescia to a noble family on 6 November 1813, died there on 15 December 1855. At the age of 17 she was entrusted with the management of her father’s silk mill, which she restored to its former splendor, at the same time showing concern for the spiritual and material welfare of the workers. During the cholera epidemic of 1836, her heroism toward the sick shone forth. A true apostle of charity, she poured out her inner love for the sick and the unhappy poor.
She was beatified by Pius XII on 26 May 1940.
