SUNDAY, Saint, Martyr. - She is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on July 6. She is perhaps the Greek martyr Cyriaca (Κυριαχή) who died at Nicomedia in the persecution of Diocletian, and is remembered by the Greek martyrologies, Latinized as D. According to the Passio, D., captured together with her parents, was taken to Nicomedia where, after having caused the idols of a temple to fall and having endured certain torments, she was beheaded. Relics of D. were perhaps transported to Tropea in Calabria, where, subsequently, she was believed to be a local martyr.
