SUNDAY, Saint, martyr. — She is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on July 6. She may be the Greek martyr Cyriaca (Κυριαρχή), who died at Nicomedia during the persecution of Diocletian and is recalled by the Greek martyrologies, Latinized as D. According to the Passio, D., captured together with her parents, was taken to Nicomedia where, after having cast down the idols of a temple and endured various torments, she was beheaded. Relics of D. may have been transported to Tropea in Calabria, where she was later venerated as a local martyr.
