DUPASQUIER, SÉBASTIEN. - Scotist philosopher and theologian of the seventeenth century, considered one of the most representative members of the school toward the end of that century. Born at Chambéry around 1630, died in 1718. A pious religious, he belonged to the Province of S. Bonaventura of the Conventuals in France, of whom he was provincial minister in 1665. Through his teaching and writings, noteworthy above all for their clarity and concision, he contributed greatly to disseminating and defending Scotist doctrine. A traditional philosopher and theologian, he nevertheless held original views important for the development of the two disciplines.

Nicolas stantem pro sola obligatione ad veniale (Annecy 1683); L'attrition suffisante pour la rémission des péchés dans le sacrement de Pénitence (2 vols., ibid. 1687).
