FAUSTINO E GIOVITA, SANTI, MARTIRI

FAUSTINUS and GIOVITAS, saints, martyrs. — The information concerning them is scant and uncertain. They are certainly commemorated in the German Martyrology on 16 February. A church in honour of FAUSTINUS alone is mentioned at Brescia by St Gregory the Great (Dialogues, IV, 52; PL 77, 413), beside which, in 841, Bishop Ramperto built a monastery.

The Passio, however, composed at the beginning of the 9th century, is highly legendary (BHL, 2836-38).
