FAUSTINUS AND JOVITA, Saints, Martyrs. - The information concerning them is scanty and uncertain. They are certainly commemorated in the Hieronymian Martyrology on 16 February. A church in honor of F. alone is mentioned at Brescia by St. Gregory the Great (Dialogues, IV, 52: PL 77, 413), next to which, in 841, Bishop Rampertus built a monastery.

The Passio, however, composed at the beginning of the 9th century, is highly legendary (BHL, 2836-38).
