FESTA, LA. — Illustrated Catholic weekly. It began publication in Milan in 1923, on the initiative of the Compagnia di S. Paolo, under the literary direction of Giovanni Papini and the artistic direction of Guido Marussig.
It achieved wide renown both for the contributions of the finest Italian writers (Giuliotti, Lisi, Gallarati Scotti, Angelini, Bargellini, Ada Negri, Linati, Allodoli, Cicognani, Casnati, etc.) and for its artistically distinguished production. It subsequently moved to Bologna, Rome, and finally Assisi, following the fortunes of its titular director, Fr. Carlo Rossi. It ceased publication in 1943. For some time it also published Il regno, a review appearing at irregular intervals, in issues of considerable richness of both artistic and literary content.
