DAUGHTERS OF THE SACRED HEART OF MARY, ADORERS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN THE SACRAMENT (Angers). - Shortly before the French Revolution the parish priest of Baugé in the diocese of Angers, René Bersult, availing himself of the work of the pious young lady Gironardière, opened a charity house intended to take in and give a Christian education to the incurable and to poor children. After the storm, the work was approved by the bishop and constituted as a religious Congregation, approved, together with its constitutions, by Pius VII on 14 September 1821. Revised in accordance with the Code, the constitutions were again approved on 7 December 1939.
The sisters, dedicated to the service of the poor, to the care and service of the sick and the aged, as well as to the Christian education of orphans, are at present 81, with 4 houses.
