DAUGHTERS OF THE SACRED HEART OF MARY, ADORERS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN THE SACRAMENT (Angers). – Shortly before the French Revolution, the parish priest of Baugè in the diocese of Angers, Renato Bersult, making use of the work of the devout young woman Gironardière, opened a house of charity intended to receive and provide Christian instruction to the incurable and poor children. After the upheaval, the work was approved by the bishop and constituted as a religious Congregation, approved, together with its constitutions, by Pius VII on 14 September 1821. Revised in accordance with the Code, the constitutions were approved anew on 7 December 1939.
The Sisters, devoted to serving the poor, caring for and serving the sick and the elderly, as well as to the Christian education of orphans, presently number 81, with 4 houses.
