DAUGHTERS OF THE SACRED HEART OF MARY, ADORERS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN THE EUCHARIST (Angers)
Shortly before the French Revolution, the parish priest of Baugé in the diocese of Angers, René Berault, with the assistance of the pious Miss Gironardiere, opened a house of charity intended to gather and instruct in Christian doctrine incurables and poor children. After the storm, the work was approved by the bishop and constituted as a religious Congregation, which was approved, together with its constitutions, by Pius VII on 14 Sept. 1821. Revised according to the Code, the constitutions were again approved on 7 Dec. 1939.
The sisters, devoted to the service of the poor, to the care of the sick and the elderly, and to the Christian education of orphans, number at present 81 with 4 houses.
DAUGHTERS OF THE HOLY NAME OF MARY AND IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY (Gerona)
Institute founded in Olot (diocese of Gerona) in 1848 by Fr Joachim Masmitja under the Augustinian Rule, which received the decree of praise on 20 Feb. 1893. On 14 Dec. 1901, under the pressure of the anti-clerical laws, provisional approval was granted. Definitive approval of the constitutions came on 21 Jan. 1907.
The Institute devotes itself to the Christian instruction and education of girls. In 1949 it had 32 houses and 316 sisters.
DAUGHTERS OF THE HOLY NAME OF THE SAVIOUR OF POGNINO (Timavia)
The Congregation is a branch of the Institute of the Sisters of the Most Holy Saviour, founded in Alsace in 1845. From that Institute the Austrian branch of the Daughters of the Divine Saviour separated in 1866, from which in 1916 the Hungarian province detached the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Name of the Saviour of Pognino. The new Congregation obtained the decree of praise on 6 July 1932, together with temporary approval of its constitutions, which were definitively approved on 11 May 1942.
Born in wartime, the Congregation suffered greatly from the circumstances of time and place, yet never failed in the purpose for which it was established: care of the sick both in hospitals and at home; education of youth; boarding houses for women; making sacred vestments.
At the end of 1942 the sisters numbered 534 with 32 houses.
