FIUME, IGNATIO. — Bishop and Dominican from Palermo, born near Aversa in 1627, died in Naples in May 1694. A religious in Naples, professor and finally regent of the Studium of S. Maria della Sanctità, he had among his disciples the future cardinal and Dominican F. T. Howard, whom he instructed on how best to refute the errors of Lutherans and Calvinists. Appointed bishop of Polignano (23 June 1681), he preserved the simplicity of religious life and distributed his income to the poor.
