Giacomo Filippo FORESTI. — Augustinian historian and theologian, b. at Solto (Bergamo) in 1434, d. at Bergamo in 1520. He entered the Augustinian Hermits and honoured the Order throughout his life with modesty, piety, and study. Principal works: *Supplementum cronicarum* (Venice 1483, several editions and translations); *Confessionale* (Venice 1487, Antwerp 1516; translated and published in Italian in two editions, ibid. 1500); *De pluribus claris selectisque mulieribus* (Ferrara 1497, Venice 1516, Paris 1525); *Postilla Catonis seu speculum regiminis* cod. ms. in the Munich Library: 3059 (And. 59), ff. 398.
