GARZONI, TOMMASO. — Writer, born in Bagnacavallo di Romagna in March 1549, died there on 8 June 1589. In 1566, at Porto di Ravenna, he donned the habit of the Lateran Congregation.
A spirit open to new currents of thought, he was a profound connoisseur of the Hebrew language, a theologian, and a varied and imaginative scholar, even bizarre and unconventional. He wrote: Teatro dei vari e diversi cervelli mondani (Venice 1583), Piazza universale delle professioni del mondo (there 1585), Hospitale dei pazzi incurabili (there 1586), etc.
