GARZONI, TOMMASO. — Writer, born in Bagnacavolo, Romagna, in March 1549, died there on 8 June 1589. In 1566 at Porto di Ravenna he donned the habit of the Lateran Congregation.
Open to new currents of thought, he was a profound scholar of the Hebrew language, a theologian, a versatile and original, even eccentric and uninhibited, erudite. He wrote: *Teatro dei vari e diversi cervelli mondani* (Venice 1583), *Piazza universale delle professioni del mondo* (ibid. 1583), *Haspitale dei pazzi incurabili* (ibid. 1586), etc.
