GELEN, VICTOR. - Capuchin mystical theologian of the Rhenish province, in which he served as novice master and three times as provincial. Born in Trier, died 14 September 1659.
He wrote a work entitled *Summa practica theologiae in omnes ab infimis usque ad supremos divini animi status operationes, et dispositiones magis notabilis ordine consuetudo*, divided into two parts (Cologne 1646 and 1652), which he also published in German (ibid. 1653 and 1655). He also published another work, *Sfera coelestis* (ibid. 1651). G. is honorably mentioned by Cardinal G. Bona in the treatise *Via compendi ad Deum* (Antwerp 1739, ch. 10, pp. 75–76).
