GELEN, VICTOR. — Capuchin mystical theologian of the Rhenish province, in which he was master of novices and provincial three times, born in Trier, died on 14 September 1669.
He wrote a work entitled Summa practicae theologiae in omnes ab infimis usque ad supremos divini animi status operationes, et dispositiones magis notabiles ordine consecutivo, arranged in two parts (Cologne 1646 and 1652), which he also published in German (there 1653 and 1655). He also published another work entitled Sfara caelestis (there 1651). Cardinal G. Bona makes honorable mention of G. in the treatise Via compendii ad Deum (Antwerp 1739, chap. 10, pp. 75–76).
