Gelen, Victor

GELEN, VICTOR. - Capuchin mystical theologian of the Rhenish province, in which he was master of novices and three times provincial, b. at Trier, d. 14 September 1669.

He wrote a work entitled Summa practicae theologiae in omnes ab infimis usque ad supremos divini animi status operationes, et dispositiones magis notabiles ordine consecutivo, digesta in duas partes (Cologne 1646 and 1652), which he also published in German (ibid. 1653 and 1655). He also published another work entitled Sfara caelestis (ibid. 1651). G. is honorably mentioned by Card. G. Bona in the treatise Via compendii ad Deum (Antwerp 1739, ch. 10, pp. 75-76).
