GIOVANNI dell'ANNUNCIAZIONE (LLANES-CAMPOMANES). - Discalced Carmelite theologian, b. 3 Nov. 1633 in Oviedo (Asturias) and d. 4 Aug. 1701 in Salamanca. He was professor and rector of the celebrated Collegio Salmanticense, several times general definitor and general superior of the Congregation of Spain (1694-1700).
His merit lies in having given a shorter and more precise form to the Cursus philosophicus Complutensis, which De Wulf called an encyclopedic commentary on Thomism. He also continued the famous Cursus Theologicus Salmanticensis, which Fr. Antonio della Madre di Dio (d. 1637) had left unfinished after the fourth volume. His other works are: Promptuario del Carmen (Madrid 1698-99); Carta pastoral a los Religiosos Descalzos (ibid. 1695); Carta pastoral para las monjas Carmelitas (ibid. 1699).
