DE WULF, MAURICE. - A distinguished historian of medieval philosophy, born in Poperinge, Belgium, on 6 April 1867, and died there on 23 December 1947.
From 1894 onwards, he was one of the most active collaborators of Mercier, both in the editing of the *Revue néoscolastique de philosophie* and in teaching at the *Institut supérieur de philosophie* in Louvain. He was responsible for the great collection of medieval texts *Les philosophes belges* (1901 ff.) and a vast scholarly output aimed especially at discovering and illustrating the monuments of medieval thought in his native land. De Wulf’s name remains linked to his *Histoire de la philosophie médiévale* (6th ed., Louvain-Paris 1934–36; 2nd Italian trans., Milan-Florence 1944).
