GIOVANNI (MARCOLINI) da FANO. – A Franciscan of the first half of the 15th century. An intimate friend of Sts. Giovanni da Capistrano and Giacomo della Marca, as well as of the supreme pontiffs Eugenio IV and Niccolò V. S. Lazzaro at Fano.
On 6 November 1444 Eugenio IV appointed him bishop of Nocera Umbra, where in 1448 he rebuilt the ancient Cathedral, transferring there from the church of S. Maria Maggiore the pontifical cathedra and the Chapter. As bishop, he founded the Franciscan convent of the Eremita near the Baths. He was present at the death of s. Bernardino of Siena (1444).
He died in the reputation of a saint in 1465.
