GIOVANNI, DAIFERIO. — Cardinal, flourished in the first half of the 12th century. Born into a noble family at Salerno, he was created by Callistus II in 1120 cardinal deacon of the title of S. Nicola al Carcere Tulliano.
He took part in the election of Honorius II, upon whose death (13 February 1130) he is found among the schismatic cardinals who elected the antipope Anacletus II (Pierleoni). The latter transferred him to the presbyteral title of S. Pudenziana. Having returned to the unity of the Church, Innocent II, by bulls of 1133 and 1134, restored him to his original title, only to assign him again in March 1134 that of S. Pudenziana, which he probably held until the following year.
