GIROLAMO da SAON. - Spanish mystical theologian and preacher of the 17th century, born in Motiva in the province of Cuenca, died in 1629. On 14 October 1573 he professed among the Augustinians of Valencia, and towards the end of 1585 or the beginning of 1586 obtained the degree of master in theology; he then taught at the University of Barcelona. He was superior in various convents of his Order. In 1599 he transferred to the Congregation of the Discalced Augustinians, for whom he zealously advocated and founded many houses.
