GIROLAMO da SAON. - Mystical theologian and Spanish preacher of the 17th century, born at Mota in the province of Cuenca, died in 1629. On 14 Oct. 1573 he professed among the Augustinians of Valencia, and at the end of 1585 or the beginning of 1586 obtained the degree of master in theology; he then taught at the University of Barcelona. He was superior in various convents of his Order. In 1599 he entered the Congregation of Discalced Augustinians, for whom he zealously promoted and founded many houses.
