GREGORIUS, CARDINALIS. — Canonist of the 11th–12th century, cardinal, d. 21 Nov. 1113. Between 1104 and 1106 he composed a collection called the *Polycarpus*, dedicated to Diego, bishop of Compostella.

Besides passages drawn from the *Corpus iuris civilis*, it contains many texts from the *Decretum* of Burchard and other Italian Gregorian collections. A second recension of this collection was made c. 1130–40 with the insertion of many forged documents. Partial editions of the collection in the form of extracts are found in A.
