GREGORY, Cardinal. - Canonist of the 11th-12th century, cardinal, d. 21 November 1113. Between 1104 and 1106 he composed a Collectio, called the "Polycarpus", dedicated to Diego, bishop of Compostela.

Besides passages drawn from the Corpus iuris civilis, it reports many texts from the Decretum of Burchard and from the other Italian Gregorian collections. Another recension of this collection was made in the years 1130-40 with the insertion of many forged documents. Partial editions of the collection in the form of extracts are found in A. Mai, Nova bibliotheca Patrum, VII, 3, Rome 1888, pp. 1-76; in PL 56,346; in F. Theiner, Disquisitiones criticae in praecipuas canonum et decretalium collectiones, Rome 1836, p. 356 ff. (the rubrics of the collection are reported).
