GREGORIUS, CARDINALIS. - Canonist of the 11th-12th century, cardinal, died 21 Nov. 1113. Between 1104 and 1106 he composed a Collectio, called « Polycarpus », dedicated to Diego, bishop of Compostella.
Besides passages drawn from the Corpus iuris civilis, it contains many texts from Bureardo’s Decretum and from the other Italian Gregorian collections. Another recension of this collection was made in the years 1130-40, with the insertion of many forged documents. Partial editions of the collection in the form of extracts are found in A.
