GUIDO TERRENI. - Theologian and canonist, born at Perpignano at the end of the thirteenth century (1260?), died at Avignone on 21 Aug. 1342.
He held the title of Doctor Parisiensis and was summoned to the papal court at Avignone as a theologian. In 1318 he became general of the Carmelites, and in 1321 bishop of Majorca, from which he was transferred in 1332 to the see of Perpignano (Elnents) in the Pyrenees.
He dealt with philosophy, theology, and law: he wrote commentaries on Aristotle, Commentaria in libros de Anima, Commentaria in XII libros Metaphysicorum, Commentaria in VIII libros Physicorum; a Summa de haeresibus, Quaestiones ordinariae and Quaestiones disputatae, De vita et moribus Iesu Christi, De perfectione vitae, Quatuor unum (later published under the title Concordia Evangelium at Colonia in 1531), etc. The De iure seu Correctorium Decreti Gratii is undoubtedly his most important work.
