GUASTELLA, Cosmo. — Philosopher, b. at Misilmeri (Palermo) on 28 Jan. 1854, d. at Palermo on 11 Sept. 1922. After studying law, he devoted himself to philosophy and in 1903 obtained the chair of theoretical philosophy at the University of Palermo.
In 1921–22 he published *Le ragioni del fenomenismo* (vols. I and II; vol. III appeared posthumously in 1923), a summation of all his research aimed at critically establishing phenomenism (v.). BRENTANO, FRANZ (v.).
