GREGOR VON HEIMBURG. - Political figure and jurist, defender of the conciliar theory, and at the same time opponent of the Roman Curia. Born at the beginning of the 15th century in Schweinfurt in Franconia, he died in August 1472 at Wehlen in Saxony. From 1435 to 1461 he served as procurator for the city of Nuremberg; from 1466 he was in the service of King George of Poděbrady of Bohemia against the Roman Curia. Excommunicated in 1460, he appealed to the Council and was absolved only in 1472, shortly before his death.
