HEIMBURG, GREGOR von. — Politician and jurist, defender of the conciliar theory, determined opponent of the Roman Curia. Born at the beginning of the 15th century in Schweinfurt in Franconia, he died in Aug. 1472 at Wehlen in Saxony. During the period 1435–61 he was procurator of the city of Norimberga; from 1466 he served the king of Bohemia, Giorgio di Poddhrad, against the Roman Curia. Excommunicated in 1460, he appealed to the Council and was absolved only in 1472, shortly before his death.
