GIACOMO da TERAMO. – Canonist, also called de Ancharano, b. in 1350, d. in Poland in 1417. After studying law at Padua, he was probably also a professor in that city. In 1391 he was consecrated bishop of Monopoli, then transferred to the sees of Taranto (1400), Florence (1401), and Spoleto (1410). Under Martino V he was apostolic legate in Poland.
His most celebrated writing is the Processus Luciferi contra Iesum, also called Compendium perbreve consolatio peccatorum nuncupatum et apud nonnullos Beliol vocitatum (Augusta 1472), a kind of novel written in procedural form, inspired by a similar work attributed to Bartolo, the Processus Satanae.
