ILARIO di SEXTEN. — Capuchin, in the world H. Gatterer, and moral theologian, born at Sexten on 15 December 1839, died at Merano on 20 October 1899. He entered religious life in 1858 and, ordained a priest in 1862, after a period of pastoral ministry became professor of moral theology and, for three years, provincial of the Order in Tyrol.
He prepared a Compendium theologiae moralis iuxta probatissimos auctores ad usum confratrum theologorum tertii anni (2 vols., Merano 1889). Other works: De Sacramentis (a pastoral treatise, ibid. 1895); De censuris et irregularitatibus (Mainz 1898), etc.
