ISACCO di ANTIOCHIA. – Also called the Great, who according to some would be identical with I. di Amida.
It is known from Gennadius that he was a very prolific writer (De vir. ill., 66); but it is not always easy to determine the distribution of the writings attributed in the manuscripts to “Mar I. il dottore”. He is said to have visited Rome in the time of Arcadius (395–408), to have witnessed the earthquake of Antioch (459), and to have died on 7 August 461. To him belong poems on the secular games (404), on the conquest of Rome by Alaric (410), and others.
