LA BOUILLERIE, FRANÇOIS-ALEXANDRE ROULET de. – Ascetical writer, born in Paris on 1 March 1810, died in Bordeaux on 8 July 1882. Spiritual director at the Minor Seminary, vicar general of Paris, and subsequently capitular vicar upon the death of Msgr. Affres, he became bishop of Carcassonne in 1855, and thereafter coadjutor, with right of succession, to the archbishop of Bordeaux (1873).
He left many writings, including: Méditations sur l'Eucharistie (Paris 1852); Etudes sur le symbolisme de la nature,
interpreté d'après l'Écriture Sainte et les Pères (2 vols., ibid. 1864); Le Cantique des Cantiques appliqué à l'Encharistie (ibid. 1868), L'homme, sa nature, son âme, ses facultés et sa fin (ibid. 1879).
