La Bouillerie, François-Alexandre Roulet de

LA BOUILLERIE, FRANÇOIS-ALEXANDRE ROULET de. - Ascetical writer, b. in Paris on 1 March 1810, d. in Bordeaux on 8 July 1882. Spiritual director in the Minor Seminary, vicar general of Paris, and then vicar capitular upon the death of Msgr. Affre, he became bishop of Carcassonne in 1855, then coadjutor with the right of succession to the archbishop of Bordeaux (1873).

He left many writings, among them: Méditations sur l'Eucharistie (Paris 1852); Etudes sur le symbolisme de la nature, interprété d'après l'Écriture Sainte et les Pères (2 vols., ibid. 1864); Le Cantique des Cantiques appliqué à l'Encharistie (ibid. 1868), L'homme, sa nature, son âme, ses facultés et sa fin (ibid. 1879).
