LEO VI, POPE. - He reigned from May to December 928. Son of the primicerius Christopher, he succeeded John X, who died in prison in Castel Sant'Angelo, and his election was arranged by Marozia; almost nothing is known of him; only one letter (cited by Jaffé-Wattenbach, 3579) is addressed to the bishops of Dalmatia, urging them to respect the rights of the bishop of Split, a practice already begun by John X.
