MARINO, saint, martyr. – He is commemorated in the Hieronymian Martyrology on 3 March.
His authentic acts are not extant, but his martyrdom rests on the testimony of Eusebius (Hist. eccl., VII, 15), according to which M. was a legionary of Caesarea who was to be promoted to the rank of centurion around 260, when Valerian’s persecution of Christians was raging. But, accused of being a Christian, he confirmed the accusation and was consequently beheaded.
