MARINO, SANTO, MARTIRE

MARINO, Saint, Martyr. - He is commemorated by the Hieronymian Martyrology on 3 March.

No authentic acts of his survive, but his martyrdom rests on the testimony of Eusebius (Hist. eccl., VII, 15), according to which M. was a legionary of Caesarea who was to be promoted to centurion, around 260, when the persecution of Valerian against the Christians was raging. But accused as a Christian, he confirmed the accusation and was therefore beheaded.
