MARINO, SANTO, MARTIRE

MARINUS, Saint, Martyr. — He is commemorated in the Martyrologium Hieronymianum on March 3.

No authentic acts of his exist, but his martyrdom rests on the testimony of Eusebius (Hist. eccl., VII, 15), according to whom MARINUS was a legionary of Caesarea who was to be promoted to centurion around the year 260, when the persecution of Valerian against Christians broke out. But accused as a Christian, he confirmed the accusation and was therefore beheaded.
