NESTORIO, saint, martyr. - He is commemorated in the Hieronymian Martyrology on 25 February, in the Roman Martyrology on the 26th, and among the Greeks on the 28th.
The original Greek Pasio, composed in the fourth century, has been lost, but there are fairly good recensions both in Greek and in Latin. N. was bishop of Magido in Pamphylia; when the persecution of Decius broke out, he persuaded
his people to flee to the mountains so as not to expose themselves to the danger of apostasy, while he himself remained at his post. Seized by the guards, he was brought before the tribunal of the city’s irenarch, who, after questioning him, sent him to Perge to the governor Pollione. The latter had him tortured on the rack and then condemned him to crucifixion.
