The memoirs, ranging from brief notes to works of book-length (e.g., the Psalms of B. D. Eerdmans, 4 [1947]), are written in French, English, or German. The Association, which also includes Catholic professors among its members, was founded in 1939. Vol. I appeared in 1941, published by the firm E. J. Brill, the well-known Orientalist publisher of Leiden. The president of the Association and director of the series has hitherto been P. A. H. de Boer. The Association also organizes, among the professors and exegetes of the Netherlands, scholarly discussions on biblical problems, and maintains relations with other associations for Old Testament studies (e.g., the «Society for Old Testament study» [v.]); at its headquarters, in 1950, the «International Organisation of Old Testament scholars» was founded (v.
