PERFICE MUNUS. - A monthly review of practical life for the clergy, begun in Turin in 1926 by the publisher Roberto Berruti, under the direction of expert theologians, canonists, and liturgists.
It deals with all ecclesiastical subjects which especially parish priests need to know for the discharge of their duties: acts of the Holy See, pastoral theology, liturgy, canon law, civil law, art, hygiene, and sacred music. The variety of material suggested, for 1930, the creation of a supplementary section embracing the less important columns and streamlining the principal section; thus a second monthly periodical was produced, making P. M. a fortnightly publication. In 1939 the supplementary section was replaced by Medicina e morale, likewise monthly; the other columns of the supplementary section were reincorporated into the general part of the periodical. From 1951 onward, while remaining fortnightly, P. M. has appeared in three parts: I. Priestly formation and activity; II. Medicina e morale; III. Aids for pastoral action. Celestino Testore
