PETER FULLO, Monophysite Patriarch of Antioch. - The date and place of his birth are unknown; he died at Antioch in 490. Having become a priest, he directed a shrine at Chalcedon and from there in 464 went with the future emperor Zeno to Antioch, where, during the absence of the patriarch Martyrius and with Zeno's support, he became patriarch: the first Monophysite patriarch.

Shortly afterward he was deposed, but returned for a brief time, only to be deposed again and confined in a monastery at Constantinople (467?). He returned in 475 under the usurper Basiliscus, who favored the Monophysites. But when the latter was deposed by Zeno in 476, P. F. too had to go into exile. Zeno, however, changed his religious policy by proclaiming in 482 the formula of the Henotikon. In 483 P. F. was once again installed in the see of Antioch and remained there until his death.

With P. F. Monophysitism triumphed in the patriarchate of Antioch. He added to the Trisagion the formula "who was crucified for us." P. F. was four times patriarch of Antioch: 460-65(?); 466(?)-467(?); 475-76; 483-90.
