PETER REGALATO, Saint. - B. at Valladolid in 1390, of a distinguished family, d. in the convent of Aguilera on 13 May 1458.

He entered the Franciscan Order at the age of 13. While the Bl. Peter of Villoctet, promoter of the Observance in Spain, was going to Aguilera, diocese of Osma, to establish a hermitage there, passing through Valladolid he found in P. R. one of his first disciples and a tireless co-worker for the introduction of the Observance in Spain, to whom he entrusted the government of Aguilera while he went about attending to new foundations. In 1422, on the death of Villoctet, he took charge of consolidating and spreading the Observance. He was distinguished for his devotion to evangelical poverty and for his charity toward the poor, being also favored with the gift of miracles. His cult having been confirmed in 1683, he was solemnly canonized by Benedict XIV in 1746. Feast on 13 May.
