RASSEGNA GREGORIANA. — Monthly periodical, founded in Rome in 1902 under the direction of Mons. C. Respighi, Fr. A. De Santi, and Maestro R. Casimiri, in compliance with the brief of Leo XIII (17 May 1901) to the abbot of Solesmes.
Its purpose was to promote knowledge and the serious and accurate study of Gregorian melodies and thus to cooperate in their return to sacred services. Not a review of high erudition, but one devoted to dissemination and practical usefulness, Rassegna offered studies on melodies, liturgical notes, a comprehensive bibliography of publications concerning the liturgy, examples of Gregorian chant and of accompanying music in church, and news of the movement for the restoration of sacred music. Publication ceased at the end of 1914.
