REPARATA, saint, martyr. — Unknown to the ancient hagiographical documents, she is first mentioned in the historical martyrologies of the Middle Ages, from which she passed into the Roman Martyrology, on 8 October.

According to the highly legendary Passio, she was a twelve-year-old girl; arrested at Caesarea in Palestine during the persecution and brought before the tribunal of the governor Decius, she refused to sacrifice, and was therefore horribly tortured and then beheaded. According to another tradition, she was identified with Margherita (v.). She is greatly venerated in Tuscany.
