After the cessation in 1922 of the *Nuovo Bullettino di Archeologia Cristiana*, the Pontifical Commission of Sacred Archaeology began in 1924 the *Rivista di Archeologia Cristiana*, intended to contain excavation reports carried out by the said Commission and studies of Christian archaeology.
From 1927 to the end of 1941 the periodical was published under the care of the said Commission and the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, with an editorial committee composed of P. Franchi de' Cavalieri, G. P. Kirsch, C. Respighi, and A. Silvagni, with G. Belvederi as editorial secretary. From 1942 to the end of 1946 the *Rivista* was published under the care of the said Commission and the Pontifical Institute, with G. Belvederi as secretary, who printed the journal at his own expense in the years 1947–48. From 1949 onward it has been published under the care of the Pontifical Commission and the Pontifical Institute, under the direction of L. de Bruyne and an editorial committee composed of B. M. Apolloni-Ghetti, A. Ferrua, E. Josi, C. Mohlberg, E. Peterson, and A. Silvagni. Of particular importance is the bibliography, first curated by G. P. Kirsch and from 1949 by L. de Bruyne. Enrico Josi
