HISTORICAL-CRITICAL REVIEW OF THEOLOGICAL SCIENCES. - Monthly periodical, founded in 1905 by Fr. G. BONACCORSI, PIERINO (v.) and later directed by E. BUON, FAMIGLIA (v.).
Divided into six sections: historical theology, biblical history and literature, Christian history and literature, Eastern history and literature, hagiography and liturgy, archaeology and art; it was granted ecclesiastical approval, and among its contributors were U. Mannucci, U. Fracassini, F. Lanzoni, G. Zattoni, Fr. P. de Meester, F. Mari, Fr. S. Scaglia.
After the encyclical Pascendi (8 Sept. 1907) the journal gave a general assent (cf. the journal itself, 3 [1907], p. 719); but in vol. 6 (1910) E. Buonaiuti began open polemics (pp. 171, 235). The periodical, not conforming to the directives of the anti-Modernist campaign, was condemned by a decree of the Holy Office on 10 Sept. 1910 and immediately ceased publication.
