ROSATI, FRANCESCO. – Missionary of St. Vincent de Paul, born in Rome on 12 August 1768, died in St. Louis (U.S.A.) on 25 September 1843. He entered the Congregation of the Mission on 4 November 1785 and took his vows on 5 November 1787.
He was one of the first missionaries who, in 1815, under the guidance of Felice de Andreia C. M., introduced the Congregation of the Mission into the United States of America. Made a bishop in 1827, he was entrusted with the care of the immense diocese of St. Louis, of which he was the first pastor. He was the principal author of the life of the ven. Felice de Andreia and of the ceremonial for use in the churches of the United States, published by F. Burlando, C. M., in 1865.
