ROSATI, FRANCESCO. - Missionary of St. Vincent de Paul, b. in Rome on 12 Aug. 1768, d. in St. Louis (U.S.A.) on 25 Sept. 1843. He entered the Congregation of the Mission on 4 Nov. 1785 and made his vows on 5 Nov. 1787.

He was one of the first missionaries who in 1815, under the guidance of Felix de Andreis, C.M., introduced the Congregation of the Mission into the United States of America. Made a bishop in 1827, he was entrusted with the care of the immense diocese of St. Louis, of which he was the first pastor. He was the principal author of the life of the ven. Felix de Andreis and of the ceremonial for the use of the churches of the United States, published by F. Burlando, C.M., in 1865.
