ROSARIO, Diocese of. - City and diocese in the province of S. Fé in Argentina.

It has an area of 27,437.30 sq km with a population of 950,000 inhabitants, of whom 900,000 are Catholics; it has 75 parishes with 113 diocesan priests and 173 regulars; it has 1 seminary, 29 male religious communities and 71 female ones (Ann. Pont. 1952, p. 341).

The diocese was created by Pius XI with the apostolic constitution Nobilis Argentinoe nationis of 20 April 1934, by detachment from the diocese of S. Fé, raising the church of the B. Virgin Mary to a cathedral with the title of the Most Holy Rosary. It is a suffragan of S. Fé.
