SABA, Saint, Martyr. — He is commemorated in the Latin and Greek Martyrologies on April 24 as a Roman martyr who suffered under Aurelian; however, he is unknown to the most ancient hagiographical sources.
Probably this is a duplicate of the homonymous S. called the Goth (v.) whose deeds were distorted by unlearned hagiographers. There existed a fabulous *Passio*, now lost, from which the laterculus of the *Roman Martyrology* was drawn.
