SARUG (Hebr. Šērāgh). — A descendant of Shem, presented as the son of Reu and the father of Nachor; he would therefore have been the great-grandfather of Abraham (Gen. 11:20–23; I Par. 1:26). He is also mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus, found in Lc. 3:35.
Whereas the Hebrew text states that S. became a father at the age of 30 and lived for 230 years, the Greek version assigns him an additional 100 years, making him become a father at the age of 130. Angelo Penna
