SEBASTIANELLI, GUGLIELMO. —
Canonist, born at Castro dei Volsci, in the diocese of Veroli, on 4 December 1855; died in Rome in April 1920.
He earned degrees in philosophy (1873), theology (1879), and canon law (1882) at the schools of the Roman Seminary, where he subsequently became professor of canon-law institutions (1885) and later of the canonical text (1888). Prelate and canon of S. Maria Maggiore (1898), he left teaching for reasons of health, remaining honorary professor (1901) and later becoming prefect of studies. He was also Auditor of the S. Rota (1902), consultor to the S. Congregations, a member of the Commission for the codification of Canon Law (1904), and finally dean of the S. R. Rota (1914).
He published his Praelectiones iuris canonici (Rome 1896 and 1905), as well as his Rotal sentences, printed in the S. R. Rotae Decisiones seu Sententiae (Rome 1908 ff.).
