TRADITIO. - Yearbook (with the subtitle Studia in ancient and medieval history, thought and religion), founded in 1943 by professors of the Catholic University of America to accommodate substantial studies comparable to the "memoirs" of academicians.
It deals with classical and Christian antiquity. The works published so far concern biblical sciences, patristics, liturgy, Byzantinology and ecclesiastical history, economic, political, juridical, canonical institutions, manuscripts, papyrology, archaeology, and paleography. The fields it covers are not merely collections of chronological data and historical facts, but represent an investigation into living forces, forms, and institutions that extend from history into the present. The journal was published until 1948 by the "Cosmopolitan Science and Arts Service Co., Inc." of New York. Interrupted due to the death of the director L. Schopp, it was resumed in 1952 by the "Fordham University Press" of New York.
