XINGÜ, PRELATURE nullius OF. — In the State of Pará in Brazil.
It has an area of 318,548 sq. km., with a population of 22,000 inhabitants, of whom 21,600 are Catholics. It comprises 4 parishes with 5 secular priests. The prelature nullius was created by Pope Pius XI on 16 Aug. 1934, with the apostolic constitution *Animarum bonum*, by detaching territory from the archdiocese of Belém do Pará and the prelatures of Santarém and Conceição do Araguaia, fixing the seat of the prelature in the city of Porto de Moz and elevating the local church of St. Blaise to the rank of a prelature. Among its inhabitants are the fierce indigenous tribes of the Caiapós and Assurinis, as well as the families of the indigenous Iurunas, Chipsias, and Curuaias, most of whom have already been baptized. The prelature is a suffragan of Belém do Pará and is entrusted to the Congregation of the Most Precious Blood, with its seat in Porto de Moz, Pará.

AKIMA, DIOCESE OF. — City and diocese in the State of Washington (U.S.A.).
It has an area of 17,787 square miles, with a population of 295,841 inhabitants, of whom 35,000 are Catholics, distributed in 19 parishes served by 22 diocesan priests and 13 religious; it has a seminary, 2 male and 6 female religious communities (Ann. Pont. 1933, p. 457). The diocese was created by Pope Pius XII with the apostolic constitution *Divina Providentia* of 23 June 1951, by detaching territory from the dioceses of Seattle and Spokane; the church of St. Paul the Apostle was constituted as the cathedral. Moreover, the same Pontiff, with the apostolic constitution *Dominici gregis*, on the same date, elevated the church of Seattle to the rank of a metropolitan see, to which the diocese of Y. was assigned as a suffragan.
