Zeitschrift Für Missionswissenschaft

Italian original Cite

ZEITSCHRIFT FÜR MISSIONSWISSENSCHAFT. - Published in Münster in V. from 1911 and edited by Joseph Schmidlin.

In it, for the first time, missionary science was treated critically and systematically in its various manifestations: missionary theory, missionary law, missionary history, missionography.

Except for a brief interruption, Schmidlin remained editor until 1937. In 1928 the program was extended also to the comparative science of religions, under the direction of J. P. Steffes; the title of the journal was changed to that of Zeitschrift für Missionswissenschaft und Religionswissenschaft. From 1938 the journal was published by Max Bierbaum and J. P. Steffes under the new title Missionswissenschaft und Religionswissenschaft. In 1942 publication was prohibited; it resumed in 1947 and in 1950 took up again the title Zeitschrift für Missionswissenschaft und Religionswissenschaft. In 1953 Dom Thomas Ohm, O. S. B., took over the direction of the journal.
