AIGREFEUILLE, GUILLAUME (the elder). – Cardinal, born at Lafond, near Saint-Exupéry, c. 1317, died at Viterbo in 1369. Having entered the Benedictine Order, he became prior of S. Pietro of Abbeville. Clement VI, who had already appointed him apostolic protonotary, created him archbishop of Zaragoza in 1347, and then cardinal in 1350. He contributed to the election of Urban V, who gave him the bishopric of Sabina in 1367. He was chamberlain of the Sacred College, and successfully completed important legations and various delicate assignments.
