AIGREFEUILLE, GUILLAUME (the elder). - Cardinal, b. at Lafond, near Saint-Exupéry, c. 1317, d. at Viterbo in 1369. Having entered the Benedictine Order, he became prior of S. Pietro in Abbeville. Clement VI, who had already appointed him an apostolic protonotary, created him archbishop of Saragossa in 1347, and then cardinal in 1350. He contributed to the election of Urban V, by whom he was given the see of Sabina in 1367. He was camerlengo of the Sacred College, and successfully carried out important legations and various delicate missions.
