ANDREA da PERUGIA. — Franciscan missionary. The date of his birth and that of his death (1330?) are uncertain. Appointed suffragan of the archiepiscopal see of Khambalicq (Peking) by Clement V and consecrated bishop, he undertook the journey to China in 1307. He resided in the capital for several years, then moved to Zaitun, where, near this city, he erected a church and a convent for twenty friars. A letter written by him to the guardian of the convent of Perugia in 1326 has been preserved.
