ANTONIO DA NEGROPONTE (erroneously Ferruccio). - Venetian painter of the 15th century. Through the only known painting (a large altarpiece, signed, representing the Madonna in Throne and the Eternal Father, in S. Francesco della Vigna in Venice), he appears to us as a notable painter of the circle of Antonio Vivarini and Giovanni d'Alemagna (v.). It is uncertain whether the document of 1469 that speaks of an "Antio Falerio pittore habitatore Negroponte" refers to A.
