ANSELMI, MICHELANGELO. – Painter, b. in Lucca ca. 1491, d. in 1555 or 1556. He was initially influenced by Sodoma, then (1520) by Correggio; he also drew close to Pordenone and Parmigianino.
He left his principal works in Parma, in the church of S. Giovanni Evangelista, the Cathedral, the Oratory of the Immaculate Conception, and the church of Madonna della Steccata (eastern apse), where, among other works, he painted, to a design by Giulio Romano, the Coronation of the Virgin.
