Anselmi, Michelangelo

ANSELMI, MICHELANGELO. - Painter, b. in Lucca around 1491, d. in 1555 or 1556. He was first influenced by Sodoma, then (1520) by Correggio; he also drew close to Pordenone and Parmigianino.

He left his principal works in Parma in the church of St. John the Evangelist, in the Cathedral, in the oratory of the Concezione and in the church of the Madonna della Steccata (eastern apse), where, among other things, he painted the Coronation of the Virgin after a design by Giulio Romano.
