ANDREA di GIOVANNI da MURANO. — Venetian painter (documented from 1462 to 1507). The early historiographers erroneously called him the “master of the Vivarini.” His works include: in Venice, in the church of S. Zaccaria, the vault of the chapel of S. Tarasio (1462); in the Accademia, an altarpiece in three compartments and a lunette with saints, signed Opus Andreae de Murano; in Vienna (Gallery), a Crucifixion.
