ANDREW OF JESUS (of Granada), Blessed. - Discalced Carmelite mystical writer, b. at Granada (Spain) in the second half of the 16th century, d. at Antequera on 25 April 1653. Having taken the habit of the Teresian reform in 1603, a lover of retreat and recollection, he was several times prior of the Carmelite Desert, called "las Nieves," in the mountains of Ronda (Andalusia). Thoroughly versed in moral theology, he wrote a mystical work: Intelligenza del libro de las Moradas (of the Mansions), Seville 1652.
